The Advanced Pain Procedure Guide is an iOS application designed as a quick reference tool for clinicians performing advanced interventional pain procedures. In a fast-paced clinical environment, physicians often need immediate access to key procedural steps, indications, and technical pearls without having to search through lengthy resources.
While many excellent pain medicine textbooks exist, they often cost hundreds of dollars and can be difficult to quickly reference during a busy clinic or procedure day. This app was created to provide a streamlined, practical alternative delivering concise, high-yield procedural information in a format that is easy to access directly from your phone.
The guide focuses on modern and advanced interventional pain procedures, presenting essential information in a clear, structured format designed for rapid review. It also includes fluoroscopic images to illustrate key anatomical landmarks and needle positioning, helping clinicians better visualize procedural technique. Whether preparing for a procedure, refreshing key steps, or learning about newer techniques, the goal is to provide clinicians with a portable reference that supports safe, confident, and effective care.
Developed by Cyrus Ghaffari, MD, the app is built from real-world clinical experience and a commitment to improving procedural education in pain medicine.
Cyrus Ghaffari, MD, is a double board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) physician and pain medicine specialist who provides advanced care for patients with both acute and chronic pain conditions. His clinical interests include cancer-related pain, intrathecal drug delivery systems, neuromodulation, and image-guided spine and peripheral nerve interventions. He is also involved in the management of acute and post-operative pain through the inpatient pain consult service at UC San Diego Health.
Our latest accomplishments include building a growing library of advanced pain procedures, integrating visual fluoroscopic guidance, and developing practical documentation templates to support clinicians both in the procedure suite and in daily practice. As the field of interventional pain medicine continues to evolve, we remain committed to expanding the guide and helping clinicians deliver safer, more effective care for patients living with pain.
